The above picture was what Eaan's truck looked like when I started digging it out. And this is what it looked like when I finished. Yay! I did it all by myself.
So when our friend, Josh, got his truck stuck trying to come down our driveway to help us cut down some trees the boys thought they would go and get him out. They took the chainsaw because they figured they could cut down the trees too.
These are the trees they were going to cut down. Josh got stuck while trying to go around them.
Looks like more trees fell. That is stuck truck #1.
There goes Eaan and my brother, Chris to help.
And there they are five minutes later just as stuck as Josh. Stuck truck #2.
So they figured while they were waiting for someone to come to help them out they would cut down the trees.
Oh no.
There they are cutting the trees.
Us girls were standing around watching and taking pictures. I know, we were being SO productive. Anyway, I looked up at the tree right above us and said, "That tree looks like it's about to fall." About a minute later what happens? The damn tree falls. We all had to run to get out of the way. It is hard running in two feet of snow! It almost fell on Josh's truck. I don't know what was holding it up but I am glad it did not crush us or the truck. No one was hurt but it definitely scared the #@*# out of us.
They had to use the four wheeler to pull the tree away from the truck so that when they cut it, it would not fall on the truck.
Oh look! Someone is coming to pull the trucks out. Oh...wait. Oh no. Truck #3 is stuck too. That is 3 stuck trucks.
Around ten that night the other trucks were able to get out. Eaan left his truck for the next morning.
Clear skies, lots of trees and lots of snow. Look at all the carnage.
A plow truck tried to plow our driveway and ended up getting stuck and had to be pulled out. (That is truck #4 in case anyone was counting) A tractor with a bucket on the front and a plow on the back ended up having to clear the snow. He also pulled Eaan out. The tractor almost got stuck too. In the end everyone was able to get unstuck, the trees were all cut and out of the way, the driveway was cleared and no one was struck by a falling tree. A very successful day in my eyes.
We still had a lot more work to do. More snow blowing, shoveling and cutting down trees but the kids were also able to come outside and play. I actually got some cute pictures of Layla enjoying the snow! I will put up the last post on the blizzard tomorrow. Happy Friday everyone!!
